How to Say ‘Table’ in Korean

There are many purposes to a table. Sometimes it’s used to eat your meal on, other times it’s your office desk. And that’s not all that a table’s good for!

Naturally, the word for ‘table’ in Korean also changes based on the appearance and usage of the table. In this lesson you’ll learn all the right ways for how to say ‘table’ in Korean. It’s a great Korean word to add to your collection.

‘Table’ in Korean

To start off easy, it is possible to say table as 테이블 (teibeul) in Korean, which would be its Konglish version. It is also how you can generally explain that you are talking about a table and Koreans will likely understand what you are trying to say.

Another fairly general way to refer to a table is 탁자 (takja). It can also be used to mean a ‘coffee table’. You can also use it to mean ‘desk’.

However, the third common word for table, 식탁 (siktak) is a little bit different. When someone uses the word 식탁, they are typically referring to a ‘dining table’, or possibly a ‘kitchen table’. ‘Dining table’ or ‘dinner table’ can also be called 밥상 (bapsang).

A word of caution about Romanization
